Willow

Filed under: Characters — Lady Gilrean Treebane @ 2:48 am

~Willow Greenleaf~

Appearance:

Eyes:

Color: Blue

Size: Slightly larger than normal but not abnormally so.

Notes: Sparkle when she smiles/laughs. Always full of emotion.

Hair:

Color:Bright Golden Blonde

Style: Wavy, full of volume

Notes: Always Perfect no matter what.  Even when leaves and twigs are twisted in it, it never looks bad.

Ears:

Style: Long “elf” ears.

Notes: Sometimes move to show emotion (i.e. droop when sad/scared)

Body:

Height: quite short, maybe 5’0”

Type: Slender (“slender as the willow-wand1”), athletic, flexible

Notes: Almost frail looking because of her size but really quite strong and flexible

Clothing:

Style: Tunic and Leggings with a belt  belt and soft leather bootsWillow's boots (Like LinkLink has a very similar outfit )

Color: Tunic is generally forest green, leggings generally tantan and the belt generally leather.

Emblem: On her Tunic is the emblem of a Willow tree in Tan (Like the White tree of GondorWhite Tree of Gondor only more willow likeWillow Leaves)

Notes: Only wears a dress when her mother makes her which is generally only for special occasions. She generally steals her clothes from her brother because she feels they are more comfortable. Her mother makes all the clothing for her and her brother.

Movement:

Around Others: almost bouncy, all over the place, occasionally runs ahead to walk backwards, sometimes very cling, sometimes refuses to walk at all and demands a piggy back ride, never seems to run out of energy

By Self: A slower, calmer almost thoughtful walk especially when in the forest, almost seems to be contemplating some great quandary. In reality she is actually silently conversing with the trees.

In the Trees: almost monkey-like, rarely takes a misstep. This is mainly due to the fact that the trees themselves would never let her injure herself while up in their branches.

Attitude:

At Home: At home Willow is generally happy-go-lucky although she’s not above pouting to get what she wants. She almost always has a smile on her face and she’s very clingy esp. to her brother and her boyfriend, Rohand. She rarely uses her brain at home which is where people get the idea that she’s not too bright.

Away From Family: Away from her family Willow tends to use her brain more. She’s no great scholar like her brother but she isn’t as helpless as she seems at home either. She has more independence.

Notes: Willow sometimes randomly decides that home is too boring and goes out to explore on her own. It’s generally her brother’s task to bring her back home again.

Voice:

Pitch: It’s kinda high but not so much that it’s annoying.

Quality: Her voice can be surprisingly smooth and soothing especially when she wants something.

Volume: generally LOUD! Willow always wants to be the center of attention and she most times achieves that by being loud.

Special attributes:

Mind Powers: Willow has certain psychic powers besides a link with her brother (see note6) She can see into the minds of just about anyone, providing she can see into their eyes. She can see people’s memories and if they’ve been tampered with. She can also tell if someone is lying, mostly because she can summon the memory that contradicts the lie.

Tree Powers: Willow can speak to the trees, like all dryads. She can also command them to perform actions (like make her a hammock) The trees also respect her greatly and will always try to help her when she needs it.

Misc. Powers: She is skilled in swordsmanship and archery. She and her brother spar often for practice. She also is relatively good with animals although she has no mystical control over them.

Notes: Willow is often a “puppet” of the Gods. They gave both her and her brother great gifts when they were born and they continue to play a quite active role in their lives.

Willow is also in line (well technically her brother is before her but…) for quite a few crowns. First is the obvious Mirkwood (if Thuranduil ever decides to step down from the throne, that’s the thing about elven kings they don’t die from old age) then Gondor (currently ruled by stewards (aka Denethor, then Faramir) because Aragorn doesn’t want the throne) and Rivendell (if Elrond ever decides it’s safe to leave the city with the people that are left to look after it)
Willow also is co-ruler of the Slightly Psychotic Forest Realm but since that probably isn’t going to come up in any stories I won’t go into detail here.

History:

Father: Lyelen

Parents: Aragorn son of Arathorn (aka Estel, Strider, Longshanks, Elessar) and Legolas Greenleaf son of Thuranduil, Prince of Mirkwood

Growing Up: had a relatively peaceful childhood living in a Talan on the outskirts of Lothlorien. Met Lessien after Estel “bought” her from a slave owner. Fell in love and eventually married her. Still lives on the outskirts of Lothlorien not far from where he grew up and where his parents still live.

Attitude: affable in nature, likes to go hunting with his parents and uncles (Elladan, Elrohir and Haldir), loves his wife and would give his life to save hers.

Notes: If it were needed to go into Lyelen’s back-story in a real story (not just a fan fiction) the place names and people names would probably need to be altered along with the fact that both his parents were male2.

At the moment Lyelen doesn’t have much depth to him. Will probably need to fix that at some point. I guess he just needs a story of his beginnings like Lessien.

Mother: Lessien

Parents: A dryad mother and a human father3, Adoptive parents, Oak and Willow

Growing Up: mother is murdered not long after giving birth to Lessien (at most a day) She dies with the child in her arms. Lessien is then raised by the trees4 until she is 12. Then she is captured as a slave. For 3 years she plans escapes, each one failing until finally at the age of 15 she is bought and freed by Aragorn. She takes up residence with him, working as a maid to earn her food and board. She eventually marries Aragorn’s son Lyelen.

Attitude: always kind and generous. Sometimes a bit strict with her children, or at least she tries to be. Is a good seamstress and a good cook.

Notes: I tried to put her back-story into an actual story once… I’ve got it around here somewhere. I’ll have to pull that out and finish it….

Twin Brother: Elrohir

Growing Up: constantly feels he has to look out for his “little” sister. Most of his adventures involve him going to rescue Willow from some dilemma she got herself into.

Attitude: Stoic, Pessimistic, Somber, Extremely intelligent and that makes him kinda hard to live with. He makes fun of his sister but in all actuality he’s kinda overprotective of her.

Notes: Not exactly sure whether he’s straight, gay, or in love with his sister… He’s had girlfriends in the past but they never really worked out… He has the gift of tongues5 and can communicate telepathically with his sister6.

Her Boyfriend: Rohand

Growing Up: Rohand is the son of a retired demon slayer and up until he met Willow he thought that was going to be his way of life too. But then he fell in love with Willow. He convinced his family to move near Lothlorien, so he could be near Willow. He lives with his father and his sister.

Attitude: Jolly and easy going. Loves Willow with all his heart. Loves her so much that he forgives her for whatever she does no matter how awful. They rarely ever fight and if the do they make up be evening (“never go to bed angry”)

Notes: Will one day marry Willow, once Willow’s calmed down enough to settle down.

Adventures:

Failed Story Lines:

TFA: the TFA storyline had Willow being pretty much a slave (well technically a forced marriage) she has two (sometimes four) children with her “husband” and is finally rescued by Elrohir and Rohand just after her “husband” hangs himself. (Children: Cirdan, Saira, Karaphin and Orophin (twins)) After that she marries Rohand and has one final child.

MTPF: In this storyline Willow is given the Toilet Plunger of Doom and with the help of her family (and some alternates from another reality) she is charged by the gods to destroy it. This storyline never got much farther than the beginning.

Notes: Willow sometimes randomly decides that home is too boring and goes out to explore on her own. It’s generally her brother’s task to bring her back home again. I could have added more about her family but I didn’t feel it necessary.

Notes:

1Alright so technically that was to describe Goldberry and not Willow but it still applies!  Its from J.R.R.Tolkein’s The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

2In the fanfiction I took him from (I only took the name and parentage nothing more) it was just accepted that elven males could have children… They just kinda grew the parts necessary when they were needed… yeah…

3 Not much is really known about her true father because her mother died just after giving birth to Lessien and in dryad society it’s not really all that important who the father of the child is. In fact few of the fathers ever know they’re fathers, it’s generally only one night stands. Also the children are always female, well that is unless a dryad marries a human (or elf or other being) then they can bear male children but the dryad powers are always stronger in the females.

4Well technically by two tree spirits, Oak and Willow. They are as old as time itself and are considered to be two demigods/demigoddesses. They pop up every once in a while generally taking the form of either an old woman/man or a giant oak/willow tree.  Willow Greenleaf is named after her “grandmother.”

5He can speak any language ever spoken fluently. Sometimes he doesn’t even know he’s switched languages although he normally tends to stick to Sindarin or the common tongue.

6Yeah it’s a twin thing. They can send thoughts images and even memories if they’re close to each other. They can generally tell whether the other is in danger, hurt, dying, or dead.

Besides being one of my older role-playing characters and a favorite in my stories, Willow is also a voice in my head… She’s not one of those evil ones that tell people to do bad things but more of a part of my overactive imagination. When ever I’m feeling hyper and happy, Willow’s generally around to share in the happiness.

Happy Feet

Filed under: Rants/Opinions — Lady Gilrean Treebane @ 8:13 pm

Ok so this was a very cute movie and it WAS about penguins so that makes it awesome. It was really well done and well developed up until about 3/4 of the way through the movie. After that it just gets ridiculous! They main penguin, Mumble, ends up swimming to the US and being placed in a zoo. He does a dance for a kid and then suddenly he’s back in antartica. >_< It had serious plot holes at the end. But I guess that’s alright for a kids movie…. Anyway it’s still a relatively good movie and really cute so if you have any excuse to watch you should! Go see it with a younger (way younger) sibling or a young cousin/neice/nephew!

Two Brothers

Filed under: Rants/Opinions — Lady Gilrean Treebane @ 8:09 pm

Wow so it’s been a while since I’ve posted on this thing…. opps….

Anyway so the last movie I watched was called Two Brothers and let me tell you, it was AMAZING!! It’s about two tigers who are seperated as cubs from both their mother and each other. The first one to be seperated is taken by a hunter/explorer (played by Guy Pearce who is HOT!!!) but after the hunter is arrested for stealing statues, the cub is sold to a circus. The second cub leaves his mother when the emperor or something of the country they’re in goes on a hunting trip and the same hunter comes along too along with the family of this french guy (who is like the govener or something) and yeah so the emeror shoots the mother in the ear (but she survives and gets away) then the child of the govener dude finds the cub and takes him home as a pet.  When the cub almost kills the mom’s dog they give the cub to the emperor’s menagerie.

It ends with the two tigers first having to fight each other (but after they realize who they’re fighting they stop and are best friends again) They end up meeting their mom again after having to say a quite tearful goodbye to the hunter and the kid.

It’s really well done and they use real tigers for the whole movie! I loved it!

Sleeping Arrangements

Filed under: Chase the Setting Sun — Lady Gilrean Treebane @ 10:38 am

Sleeping Arrangements
Jack in Captain’s Quarters
•    Room would be slightly larger than Room 1, 2 and 3 but still relatively small. Maybe the one bed (actual bed), Jack’s, and a desk with some space to move around
Wilhelmina and Dr. Sam in Room 1
•    Doc and assistant get their own room b/c Dr. is not a regular sailor
•    Small cramped room. Two hammocks (one on top of the other) a desk the Doc’s large trunk and Will’s smaller one with little space to move around.
Daniel, Yanni, and Elias in Room 2
•    Daniel b/c he’s the Mate, Yanni b/c he’s the Carpenter and a good friend of Jack, Elias b/c he’s carpenter’s assistant and Yanni’s brother
•    Larger than room 1 but still cramped. 3 hammocks (two on top of each other (Yanni & Elias’) and one on the other wall), two large trunks and one small.
Joan (and later Mairi) in Room 3
•    Obviously Jack wouldn’t have Joan sleeping in the main room or with any of the guys. He’s a Pirate, he knows better then to trust them.
•    About the same as room 1 only with one hammock set up and Joan’s trunk. a Bit more spacious because only one person lives in the room
Liam, Dandy, Wei, and Everyone else in Main Sleeping Quarters
•    Long space with hanging hammocks and trunks

Brokeback Mountian

Filed under: Rants/Opinions — Lady Gilrean Treebane @ 11:50 pm

I just finished watching Brokeback Mountian. It was soooooo sad. Made me wanna cry. Yes I’m crying over gay cowboys! It was so good. I don’t wanna give it back to blockbuster. I think I might end up needing to buy it. Of course I’ve got a whole lot of movies I need to buy. I know most people will probably look at it and say “Who wants to watch a movie about gay cowboys?”, well they’re all missing out on a really good movie. It definately wasn’t a comedy. I usually don’t like movies that are really serious but this one was different. It was just amazing. Everyone should watch it. I didn’t realize it was rated “R” though. Of course it makes sense. There was a lot of nudity and some pretty strong language. I may just have to watch it again before giving it back….

Always Look on the Bright side of life

Filed under: Song Lyrics — Lady Gilrean Treebane @ 11:01 pm

Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the bright side of life

If life seems jolly rotten
There’s something you’ve forgotten
And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing

When you’re feeling in the dumps
Don’t be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle that’s the thing
And…

Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the bright side of life

For life is quite absurd
And death’s the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow

Forget about your sin
Give the audience a grin
Enjoy it it’s your last chance anyhow

Always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath

Life’s a piece of shit
When you look at it
Life’s a laugh and death’s a joke it’s true

You’ll see it’s all a show
Keep ‘em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you
and

Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the bright side of life…

Rivals

Filed under: Chase the Setting Sun — Lady Gilrean Treebane @ 1:28 pm

Rivals

1. The Hell’s Revenge

  • Sloop of War
  • Crew of large burly men
  • Cap’n a Midget
  • Figurehead – A Lady Devil?

2. El Bucanero Ruin (The Vile Buccaneer)

  • Brigantine
  • Spanish
  • Cap’n bears a grudge against Jack. “Hello, my name is Fidel Acosta. You killed my father. Prepare to die” (Whoot princess bride reference!!)
  • Fidel Acosta - Fidel (Faithful) Acosta (“coast” refering to a person who lived there.) The Faithful Coast sounds so poetic ^_^ He’s the kind that you really sympathize with him. You don’t really want him to die but then again he can’t kill Jack either. Even Jack doesn’t really wanna kill him and tries to persuade him out of it. “Listen I’m sorry I killed your father but I don’t want to have to kill you and if you proceed to try to kill me I might be forced to go against my wishes. Now just stop fighting and maybe we could come to some sort of agreement” He might end up joining Jack’s cause.

3. La Flamme du Dragon (The Flame of the Dragon)

  • Caravel
  • French Privateer
  • Kinda Pirate Wannabe, Whimps, (Cheese Eating Surrender Monkies!)
  • Cap’n is the type who will make you groan and say “Oh no not him again”
  • Jack spares the ship because they surrender so pitifully and lets them go. (not without seizing all the treasure they had with them) This causes a mutiny among the crew (*with the exception of Joan, Danny, Sam, Yanni, Will and Elias). “Perhaps Jack’s gettin’ soft” Mutiny Lead by Liam.

4. The HMS Falcon

  • Frigate
  • English Navy
  • Cap’n is the kind you love to hate. He’s like Norrington a bit arrogant and almost too perfect when all is going well and a sarcastic drunkard when things fall apart. He’ll show up many times perhaps changing from naval officer to privateer (with the proper letters of Marque of course)
  • Despite the fact that the navy frigate is the much better ship Jack still somehow manages to slip away from the ship with relatively little damage while the frigate suffers heavily (Magic, running them aground in waters that the sloop can easily manage)

Talk Like A Pirate Day Song

Filed under: Song Lyrics — Lady Gilrean Treebane @ 6:32 pm

Most days are like all of the others,
Go to work, come back home, watch TV,
But, brother, if I had me druthers,
I’d chuck it and head out to sea,

For I dream of the skull and the crossbones,
I dream of the great day to come,
When I dump the mundane for the Old Spanish Main
And trade my computer for rum! ARRR!

T’ me,
Yo, Ho, Yo, Ho,
It’s “Talk Like A Pirate” Day!
When laptops are benches God gave us for wenches,
And a sail ain’t a low price to pay!
When timbers are shivered and lillies are livered
And every last buckle is swashed,
We’ll abandon our cars for a shipfull of ARRRs
And pound back the grog till we’re sloshed. Yo ho ….

- Anyone see my keys?
- Just off the coast o’ Florida, matey! ARRR!

Don’t pick up yer phone and say “Hello,
Your ten-o-clock meeting’s delayed”,
Ye scrunch up yer face and ye bellow,
“AVAST! Ye’ve been bleedin’ BELAYED!”

Ye can’t keep this fun to yourself, I bet,
So sing “Aye”, “ARRR”, and “Ayy”, every man!
We ain’t got much grasp of the alphabet,
But a damn good retirement plan! (raucous laughter)

T’ me,
Yo, Ho, Yo, Ho,
It’s “Talk Like A Pirate” Day!
Whatever’s in fashion is in for a thrashin’
And bein’ polite is passe!
When it’s ev’ry man’s duty to grab his proud beauty
And let out a hearty YO HO!
And if this offends you, hold your breath as we sends
you
Ta Davy Jones’ Locker ya go!

- Where IS Davy Jones’ Locker, anyway?
- Right near Monkee Island! Arr, aye, arr….

We’ll tell every banker “Heave to and weigh anchor!”
Buy latte with pieces of eight
We’ll fight to be chosen as cap’n or bosun
The loser, o’ course, is worst mate!

When we hoist Jolly Roger the landlubbers dodge ‘er,
We fill ‘em with loathing and fear,
We’ll plunder and pillage each city and village,
Or at least clean out Wal-Mart of beer!

- Ahoy, mateys! And Welcome ta “Iron Chef Pirate!”
Let’s see the secret ingredient!
<GONNNG It’s Barnacles!
- Oh ho! There’ll be some cutting-edge cuisine!

- “AWK! AWK!” <bzzzzzz
- Hold still, Polly! I need this for me salad!
- Avast there, me bucko! Ye need CARROT shavings! CARROT!
- But Captain, I be on Atkins!
- Moron…

- And you! WHAT are ye doin’ with that salmon?
- I’m grillin’ it on a hunk o’ cedar, what d’y'think?
- Ye CAN’T do that in a JAPANESE STIR-FRY, ye bilge rat!
- Oh HO! Ye never heard o’ “wokkin’ the plank”?

There ain’t no computin’ or morning commutin’,
No “Parking Lot Full” signs for me,
No lawns ta be mowin’ or bills to be owin’,
I’m knowin’ the pull of the sea.

The fresh salty brace of the wind on my face
Through hurricane, sunshine or squalls,
I’m keepin’ my eyes on the distant horizon,
Verizon can hold all my calls!

To wear a red coat full o’ buckles,
To earn a few duelling scars,
Well, at least we can get a few chuckles
By filling the office with ARRRs!

And maybe we’ll never get closer,
Than watchin’ ‘em on the big screen,
So here’s to old Errol and Depp as Jack Sparrow,
And every damn one in between!

T’ me,
Yo, Ho, Yo, Ho,
It’s “Talk Like A Pirate” Day!
That time in September when sea dogs remember
That grown-ups still know how ta play!
When wenches are curvy and dogs are all scurvy
And a soft-wear patch covers your eye,
Ta hell with our jobs, for one day we’re all swabs
And buccaneers all till we die!

So hoist up the mainsails and shut down your brain cells,
They only would get in the way,
Avast there, me hearty, we’re havin’ a party,
It’s “Talk Like A Pirate” Day!

Yo Ho!
